Antenatal clinics are held on Thursday afternoons by the community midwife, and by appointments with Drs Tamlyn, Gregory, Lacey, Galbraith, Hall and Lane.

Midwife

The midwife encourages a healthy lifestyle before pregnancy, if possible. She can offer advice re: diet, smoking etc and could arrange referrals for counselling if there are any particular problems. Appointments can be made for Thursday afternoons.

All partners and practice nurse Debbie Mitchell have been approved for this service.

Minor Injuries

The practice is a minor injuries unit with one nurse in attendance until 6.30pm every evening Monday to Friday.

Immunisation Clinic

We believe that all children should be immunised, starting when they are two months old. Clinics are held every Monday afternoon between 2.30 and 4.15pm.

COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) And Asthma Clinics

These are held weekly in the practice for people with respiratory disease. The clinic is held by practice nurse Norma Bushby who undertakes spirometry (the measurement of breathing), education and prescription of inhaler medication to suit the person.

CHD (Coronary Heart Disease)

These clinics are held regularly to monitor patients who have heart disease. Patients are seen annually, when they have their bloods and blood pressure taken, and their lifestyle and any problems discussed. These clinics are run by a nurse practitioner.

Diabetes

This clinic is held weekly by a team of experienced nurses and a GP.

Minor Illness Clinic

These clinics are run by experienced nurse practitioners who have undergone further training. They have been running for over one year and are proving popular with our patients. Most people can be seen by the nurse on the same day and prescriptions are issued according to need. When necessary patients are referred to doctors.
