Surgery Hours

Monday to Friday 8.30 - 11.30am
Monday to Friday 2.30 - 5.30pm

What To Do When The Medical Centre Is Closed

For most medical problems arising within normal surgery hours you can phone to make an appointment with your GP or practice nurse.

If your GP surgery is closed and you need urgent treatment (ie cannot wait until your surgery is open) please phone and follow the recorded instructions or call NHS Direct on 0845 4647 for advice.

NHS Direct can also be reached at: www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk

On the basis of what you tell the doctor about your medical condition, the doctor may decide to give you advice by telephone, or to see you at an out-of-hours centre* which will run emergency services during the evening and weekends. Alternatively, the doctor may suggest you contact your own practice when next open. Seeing patients at a surgery or other suitable premises enables the doctor to provide a better service. In selected cases the doctor may decide to visit you in your own home or to refer you direct to hospital.

Next time you consider telephoning your doctor outside normal surgery hours please think carefully. Do you really need a doctor's help immediately or can it wait until your regular surgery is next open?
